Parades come to mind automatically during Thanksgiving, and Washington DC provides an exceptional time during this holiday including parades, events, tours, and local dining.
Market Street and Freedom Drive are the playground for an Annual Holiday Parade on Thanksgiving Day, with floats, a Tree Lighting Ceremony, music, and fun, starting at 11 a.m. Also, for those in the Silver Springs area, Sligo and Georgia Avenues host a Thanksgiving Parade in the Entertainment District. From 9:30 a.m. on, bands will play, and animals, marching performers, and dancers will fill the streets for a festive occasion on the 19th of November.
