, at 636 Old Hickory Boulevard., is a book store filled with classics. Here you can find row after row of books. Some are older texts while some are more modern. The books are relatively cheap, and there is no limit as to what you might find. McKays also has stores in Knoxville and Chattanooga.
McKays was started in 1974 with the idea of creating a library where people could keep books they buy as long as they like, and return them for a store credit for more books when they want new ones. That model has turned into a successful business. Customers can bring books to either sell or trade although books must be in good condition and have some value. McKays does not take library books, text books, or parts of series. Items can be sold for either store credit or for cash.
The store has an amazing array of books but that is just the beginning. There are magazines, CDs, DVDs, video games and some other electronic type material for sale as well. McKays also has a very large selection of vinyl records for sale, and visitors can also pick up used e-readers here, as well magazines. Sometimes the store carries a variety of musical instruments as well as some other collectibles.
