La Villita Historic Arts Village in San Antonio, TX
Art walks, restaurants, galleries, stores and more all are available for your exploration at La Villita Historic Arts Village. La Villita was the first neighborhood in San Antonio, and it is located on the south bank of the San Antonio River. Originally, it was a settlement for Spanish soldiers, but when, in the 19th century, European immigrants from Germany and France migrated to the area, it became a center of culture. A wide variety of architectural styles are spread out throughout the neighborhood, everywhere from palisado to Victorian.
Today, La Villita is a vibrant, bustling art community, a monument to San Antono's past. The variety of galleries show off the many different styles of the artists. Paintings, clothing, sculptures, copper art, stained glass, weavings, pottery and more are all found throughout the neighborhood. There are also four restaurants and grills in the neighborhood, including La Villita Cafe and Little Rhein Steak House.
