Day 1

 


7 a.m. : Breakfast at Bailey's - Bailey's serves American cuisine, and is known for their seafood. Casual dress. Reservations are accepted, carryout is available, and there is ample parking.

 


8 a.m. : Take the Historic Grand Tour - This fully-narrated deluxe minibus tour lets you discover Savannah, where Southern hospitality was born, nurtured and is now just a way of life. Tour lasts aboiut 2 hours and is appropriate for all ages.

 


10 a.m. : Visit Fort Pulaski National Monument - The location of a major Civil War battle, Fort Pulaski was captured by the Union in the Civil War and was the place where many Georgians were recruited into the Union army. Fort Pulaski is rich in history, and the National Monument offers visitors the opportunity to become educated about this area, soldier life, and the role it significantly undertook in the Underground Railroad.

 


12 p.m. : Lunch at Bayou Café - This is a cajun restaurant, dress is casual. Live bands occasionally grace this establishment, to set the mood. Reservations are accepted.

 


1 p.m. : Saunter in Savannah - Walk off some of that lunch with another tour. Your knowledgeable guide will take you on a trip through Savannah's past with emphasis on the architecture and ironwork visible today. You'll meet the important characters in Savannah's history as you discover the squares of Bull Street, known as 'the jewels in the crown of Oglethorpe's plan.' Tour lasts around 1.5 hours and is appropriate for all ages.

 


2:30 p.m. : Visit Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum - This museum was recently named 'Georgia's Best New History Museum' by the Georgia Journal. It chronicles the trials and tribulations of the African American community through photographs, interactive exhibits, and more.

 


3:30 p.m. : Pirate's Walk Adventure Tour - Pirates, outlaws and outcasts were among coastal Georgia's first citizens - living on the coast for more than a century before Savannah was established. Familiar names like Blackbeard, Treasure Island and Jean Lafitte are linked to the region's rich history. Tour length is about 2 hours and is appropriate for all ages.

 


5:30 p.m. : Visit Roundhouse Railroad Museum - This National Historic Landmark site is the oldest and largest existing nineteenth-century railroad operations complex in the nation. Five of the buildings house permanent exhibits, including the roundhouse with its operating turntable. Visitors can see steam and diesel locomotives, rail cars, steam-powered machinery, model railroads, and a 126-foot brick smokestack with privies around its base.

 


7 p.m. : Dinner at Pearl's Elegant Pelican - This steakhouse serves seafood, as well as fresh salads, and melt-in-your-mouth hushpuppies. Reservations are not accepted. Carryout is available. Parking has been arranged for customers.

 


8 p.m. : See Jukebox Journey presented by Savannah Theater - Jukebox Journey presents Savannah visitors with great music and precise choreography from the '40's to today. Lavish costumes, an amazing set and comedic interludes all help round out this fast-paced time of entertainment that is sure to energize the entire family. Jukebox Journey is considered Savannah's number one downtown entertainment option.

 


10 p.m. : Head back to the hotel and turn in for the night.

 


Day 2

 


Now that you've spent one day touring the gorgeous city of Savannah and seeing the sights, day 2 can be used for hanging out like a local.

 


7 a.m. : Breakfast at Huey's - This restaurant is right on the river, offering it's guest beautiful scenery while munching away on their New Orleans French Toast.

 


8 a.m. : Visit City Market - Savannah's City Market is full of shopping, entertainment, art, and much more. There are cigar shops, country stores, gift shops, just to name a few. Take a carriage ride, a segway tour, or stop in at a venue to catch a blues show.

 


12 p.m. : Lunch at Vinnie Van Go Go's - Located in Savannah City Market and voted 'Best Pizza in Savannah' year after year.

 


1 p.m. : Visit Tybee Island - Tybee Island is just 20 minutes away from Savannah's Historic District. Spend the afternoon on the beach, take a dolphin tour, kayak-tour, or go deep-sea fishing.

 


6 p.m. : Grab a bite to eat at one of Tybee Island's many seaside bungalows, or try something a little more up-scale.

 


7 p.m. : Hauntings Tour - Your vacation just couldn't be complete without a little something to give you goosebumps. The Hauntings Tour, led by a knowledgeable guide, will walk you through Savannah's storied history, including testimony regaled by eyewitnesses and information from noted books about the city's spectres. Grab a lantern and walk the streets after sundown. Tour length is approximately 90 minutes long and may not be suitable for small children.

 


8:30 p.m. : Snacks or Cocktails at Crystal Beer Parlor - Kick back and soak up all you experienced on your vacation over an ice cold beer or tasty cocktail.
