Scores of people turned up at Branson’s Silver Dollar City the weekend of March 13 to be some of the first to experience the newest addition to the park: Fireman’s Landing.
“2015 is going to be our biggest family year ever, as not only are we adding Fireman’s Landing, but also the world famous Harlem Globetrotters are joining us all summer in their first-ever extended run-in show,” Silver Dollar City General Manager Brad Thomas said in a press release.

The brand new two-acre adventure opened to the public March 13 after a few hundred lucky guests got a sneak peek the Wednesday before. KY3 News reported the park anticipated 10,000 visitors for its first day of the season.
The $8 million project was designed by Andy Westfall, Senior Guest Experience Designer at Herschend Family Entertainment, and is the reproduction of an authentic, 1800s volunteer firefighter recruitment fair. It was created with families in mind and features six new rides and four new interactive play zones.
The attractions at Fireman’s Landing are suited for both kids and adults and are all centered around Station No. 3 Firehouse Play Place, where visitors can meet its chief Dalmatian resident, Lucky the Rescue Dog.
New rides include:
- Fire Spotter: big balloons that soar through the air, ideal for spotting fires.
- Fire Wagon Frenzy: a bumpy ride in a fire wagon.
- Firefall: an eight-story free-fall thrill ride with park-wide views from the very top.
- Firefighter’s Fire Drill: a play zone filled with foam ball cannons and targets.
- Firefighter’s Fire Escape: an obstacle course filled with exciting things to climb on.
- Firefighter’s Junior Fire Escape: an area just for the little ones, filled with soft toys.
- Fireman’s Flyer: a swing ride for the little ones.
- Up the Ladder: a tower drop, similar to the firefall, but for smaller children.
- Lucky’s Dizzy Dogs: a bouncy Dalmatian ride that spins in circles around a fire hydrant.
- Firehouse Splash Yard: an area filled with hoses and water jets; great for cooling off and playing on those hot summer days.
Fireman’s Landing replaced Geyser Gulch, a water park area for children, which closed in August of 2014.
