Plan to lose yourself for a day in the first public sculpture garden in America at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet.

More than 900 sculptures from the early 17th century to present are featured across acres of the sculpture garden, and two indoor exhibit galleries also feature sculpted masterpieces.

The impressive garden was designed in the shape of butterfly wings, and features several specialty gardens including the Diana Garden, the Fountain of the Muses Garden, the Children's Garden, the Carolina Terrace, the Dogwood Garden, and the Palmetto Garden. There's no doubt that spending an entire day exploring the natural wonders here will work up an appetite, so several restaurants and eateries are featured on the grounds, including the Pavilion Restaurant, the Old Kitchen, and the Courtyard Cafe.
